Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Sui Visit – XI Cl (2023)
An excursion trip was arranged by Military College Sui Balochistan (MCSB) administration for the cadets of class first year for PPL Sui. PPL is about 5 km away from MCSB. Where
87 cadets and 5 officers made a trip in two separate groups. In the first group, 40 cadets of Sher Shah House and Haider House, while 47 cadets from Jinnah House and Liaqat House visited the facility along with their faculty members. Primary objective of the visit was to gain insights into various aspects of PPL’s operations including gas purification, gas compression, functioning and controlling of the Reservoir Modelling Group (RMG).
The visit started with a comprehensive overview of PPL’s operations briefed by Chemical Engineer Aun and Al-Faran, with a specific focus on the processes involved in gas purification and compression and its control. One of the highlights was a presentation that showcased a 3D model illustrating PPL’s operations which greatly facilitated the cadets’ comprehension.
The visit underscored the efficient role played by RMG in developing and maintaining reservoir simulation models for PPL’s assets. RMG also oversees Quality Assurance/ Quality Control for third-party reservoir simulations.
The main takeaway from the visit was the realization of how reservoir models enhance field performance, boost hydrocarbon recovery and vital for PPL’s profitability and resource management. It provided the cadets with a deeper understanding of the intricate nature of the energy sector and the essential role PPL plays in meeting national energy needs while safeguarding the environment.
